My own theory on antibiotics
There has been so much talk about antibiotics causing asthma. Antibiotics are refined foods that kill bacteria in the body (some good bacteria that our bodies need also) ans some that enable our immune systems to operate effectively. Research has shown a link between changes in microbs found in the gut and changes to the immune systems response may contribute to the rise in asthma. Antibiotics and diets also high in refined food appears now to be proving that if we alter the microflora, (Viruses, bacteria, fungus etc) we alter the immune system. This absence of comumication of the immune system takes control, resulting in uncontrolled allergies. This effect on our immune system is very widely debatable as lots of other studies have shown that giving antibiotics to children (especially those under one year) may increase their risk for allergy, but lots of other studies have not shown this, so this maybe needs more infestigation or studying.

My story continues with my own personal belief. I was given antibiotics when I was about three months old for continuing chest infection. Back then I was told I had bronchitis and this continued until I was about three years old when Doctors then decided it was asthma. Over the years I have lost count of the number of antibiotics that I have taken, but the fact is that every time I have an asthma attack I usually have a chest infection also. This is always treated with an antibiotic which greatly improves my asthma symptoms too. Maybe its the antibiotics treating the chest infection that eases symptoms (no I dont think so). Recently I have taken antibiotics when my asthma symptoms where bad. I had no chest infection and to my amazement they helped my asthma. I have severe asthma with continuous symptoms. I recently had a tooth abcess and was given amoxcillian to clear it up my asthma got better for a short while. My asthma symptoms greatly improve on amoxcillian why? I wonder?
My personel belief.
Well I believe when I was young and given antibiotics at three months old when my immune system was not fully developed it caused my severe asthma. Today when I take this medication it fixes the damage caused years ago so should I be dependant on this medication. Well I think I am. This of course is my own theory. My own personal feeling on antibiotics which I hope one day will prove me right and maybe a cure or prevention can be made. About four years ago I had an anaphylactic reaction (severe allergy) to distaclor antibiotic in which I was hospitalised. I had never had a reaction to antibiotics before. Antibiotics do cause allergys then, so if asthma and allergys are connected maybe antibiotics cause asthma. This is all my own personal beliefs of course.
